    Ingredients

    • Yogurt – I recommend using plain Greek yogurt for a thicker, higher-protein texture, but regular yogurt will also work.
    • Egg – Helps bind the ingredients together and creates the custard-like texture.
    • Cornstarch – Acts as a stabilizer to help create a soft and creamy texture.
    • Maple syrup or sweetener of choice – Adds sweetness and helps balance the tanginess of the yogurt.
    • Vanilla extract – Adds a subtle vanilla flavour that complements the apple and cinnamon.
    • Apple – Adds natural sweetness, texture, and a delicious caramelized apple flavour throughout the baked yogurt.
    • Coconut oil or butter – Helps caramelize the apples and adds richness to the flavour.
    • Cinnamon – Adds warmth and creates that classic apple pie flavour.
    • Salt – A small pinch helps balance the sweetness and enhance the overall flavour.

    Storage and Equipment

For this recipe, you’ll need a small oven-safe baking dish, such as an 8-ounce ramekin, along with a saucepan for caramelizing the apples, a mixing bowl, and a whisk. When it comes to baking, you can make this recipe using either an air fryer or a regular oven.

Store any leftover baked yogurt and caramelized apples separately in airtight containers and keep refrigerated for up to 3–4 days. For the best texture, enjoy the baked yogurt chilled straight from the fridge, or let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving for a softer, creamier texture.

    Toasty's Tips

    • Use a sweet apple variety: Apples like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala work well because they become naturally sweet and flavourful when cooked.
    • Cut the apples into small pieces: Smaller pieces will soften faster and distribute more evenly throughout the baked yogurt.
    • Don’t skip caramelizing the apples: Cooking the apples first helps bring out their natural sweetness and creates a deeper apple pie-like flavour.
    • Make extra caramelized apples: The recipe makes enough apples for multiple servings, so save any leftovers to use as a topping or snack.
    • Let the baked yogurt cool before serving: Cooling allows the texture to set and become creamier. It’s also normal for it to sink and deflate slightly as it cools.
    • Customize the flavour: Try adding chopped walnuts, pecans, raisins, or a little nutmeg for an even cozier apple pie-inspired version.
